Builtins

These are the words you click in a tag (Exec runs them) or type as a command, a line at a time. The everyday ones come first; the rest by what they are for.

Everyday

`Config`

SPC›f›c, in the workspace tag · Open the startup file, init, in a pane: its pane when it is open, else the file, else a pane of that name for Save to make it and its directory.

SPC›d · takes an argument · Close the pane.

`Delcol`

SPC›c›d · Close this column and its panes, refusing once over unsaved text.

`Dump`

SPC›s›d, in the workspace tag · Write the session's panes and layout to a dump file, for Restore.

`Exec`

Tab, middle-click · takes an argument · Execute its argument as a middle click on it would, a builtin or a shell command.

`Exit`

SPC›q, in the workspace tag · Quit the editor, refusing once while a pane holds unsaved text: an Exit with nothing edited since discards it.

`Find`

SPC›f›f, in the workspace tag · takes an argument · List the files below this pane's directory whose names hold its argument, in a +Search.

`Grep`

SPC›f›g, in the workspace tag · takes an argument · Find's sibling: Find matches file NAMES under this pane's directory, Grep matches file CONTENTS under every pane's directory at once.

`Help`

SPC›?, in the workspace tag · Open the help: every key and every builtin.

`Kill`

takes an argument · acme's Kill: stop the commands pardes started -- the lines it typed into a terminal, from an exec, a middle click or a pty/run, while their shell says they run (C mark to D).

Enter, right-click · takes an argument · Look at its argument: open the file or address it names, else find the word, as a right click does.

`New`

SPC›f›n · Open an empty scratch pane, <dir>/+New, in this pane's directory.

`Newcol`

SPC›c›n, in the workspace tag · An empty column right of the keyboard's, its tag taking the keyboard.

SPC›f›r · List the files opened lately, closed ones too, each a place to open again.

Redo the last undone edit.

acme's Undo and Redo: step the pane's body back or forward through its edits, from a tag, a pane ctl or exec.

window only · on|off|0-3 · The brightest ink glows a little: a level, 0 (off) through 3.

keep|replace · A document dropped where a lone untouched shell stands: keep the shell, or replace it.

`ChipShadow`

on|off · In a terminal, a notice chip casts a cell's shadow right and down, on or off.

takes an argument · The directory Dump writes to and a relative Restore reads from; bare, the default.

`FocusTint`

on|off · The focused pane's and column's tags are tinted, on or off.

`Font`

window only · takes an argument · The body font, by name or path, and its size.

`Grain`

window only · on|off|0-3 · The page takes a fine, still grain, like paper: a level, 0 (off) through 3.

`GripWidth`

window only · takes an argument · The grip and scrollbar width, as a percent of the theme's rail.

`HoverGlow`

window only · on|off · A soft underline of light under the word a look-hover would open, on or off.

`InactiveDim`

takes an argument · Fade the unfocused panes' text by a percentage, 0 through 100, 0 off.

`JumpScope`

file|all · What Back and Forward keep to: file, the focused pane's file until it runs out that way, or all, every place in order.

`JumpTrail`

on|off · In a terminal, a jump of the cursor leaves a short trail that fades, on or off.

`Lift`

window only · on|off|shadow|rim|auto · How the focused pane stands off the page: off, shadow, rim or auto.

`Ligatures`

window only · on|off · A font's programming ligatures draw across their cells, on or off.

`LookWord`

search|list · A plain word looked at: search selects its next place in the pane, list lists every place in a +Search.

`MessageAnimation`

on|off · A message falls into its row and dissolves out of it, on or off.

`MessageDissolve`

takes an argument · How long, in milliseconds, a message takes to dissolve.

`MessageFall`

takes an argument · How long, in milliseconds, a message takes to fall into its row.

`MessageLinger`

takes an argument · How long, in milliseconds, a message stays after what dismisses it.

off|crisp|smooth|bouncy|playful · How animations move: off, crisp, smooth, bouncy or playful.

`Occlusion`

window only · on|off · Pane bodies darken faintly toward their edges, on or off.

`Pager`

pardes|off · What a terminal's commands page through: pardes, a +Pager pane (pardes -), or off, the environment's own; for terminals started after it.

`PagerColor`

on|off · A +Pager keeps its program's colours, on or off; for the next text paged.

on|off · Keywords and the like are drawn bold, on or off.

takes an argument · A tab's width in cells, 1 through 16, in every pane; bare, it says the width.

window only · takes an argument · Scale the tag font, a percentage.

real|petscii · How a new terminal draws its program's kitty graphics: real, as pixels where it can, or petscii, as glyph art.

takes an argument · Switch to the named theme.

`ThumbFlash`

on|off · In a terminal, a pane's scroll thumb brightens as it scrolls and fades back, on or off.

`TreeContextTagStyle`

on|off · A pane's TreeContext rows draw in the tag's style, on or off.

`Verbose`

on|off · A builtin says its own name on the message row as it runs, on or off.

`Vignette`

window only · on|off|0-3 · The window's corners fall into shade: a level, 0 (off) through 3.

`WindowOpacity`

window only · takes an argument · The window's opacity, a percentage.

`Wrap`

Fold a pane to its tag, or restore its share of the column.

`DelAbove`

Close the pane, giving its rows to the pane above it.

`DelBelow`

Close the pane, giving its rows to the pane below it.

`Edit`

takes an argument · acme's Edit: sam's command language over the open text panes, from a tag, a pane ctl or exec, starting in the pane's body.

`Filter`

Recolour a terminal's program colours to the theme, or show them as sent, flipping between them.

`Get`

takes an argument · acme's Get: the pane's file read again, its unsaved edits refused once as Del refuses them.

`Incl`

takes an argument · acme's Incl, for the session: Incl dir ... adds directories a look at a name found nowhere else is tried in (stdio.h, <foo.h>), bare lists them, Incl - empties the list.

`LocationsConfig`

takes an argument · Set how location rows are drawn, or show how they are when bare.

`Mini`

takes an argument · Open a minimap of the file in braille dots.

`Mode`

Cycle the pane's input modes: terminals add raw tty mode to normal/insert.

`Mount`

takes an argument · Mount another pardes's 9P tree under /n/<name>, given its dial address.

`Msg`

takes an argument · Show its argument on this pane's message row.

`Pet`

window only · takes an argument · An optional SDL workspace-tag companion; never consumes input or text cells.

`Putall`

acme's Putall: every pane holding unsaved edits to a file is saved, each as its own Save; one that is refused (changed on disk since, a write that fails) says so and the rest are saved all the same.

`Repl`

takes an argument · Binds this terminal as a language's REPL, so an exec on that language's files is typed into it instead of run.

`ThemeFile`

takes an argument · Load a theme from a file.

`Togglettymode`

Switch this terminal between raw program input and normal editor mode.

`TreeContext`

takes an argument · Show the declarations enclosing the top row at the pane's head, on or off.

`Unmount`

takes an argument · Unmount the 9P tree mounted under /n/<name>.

`Zerox`

acme's Zerox: a second pane on this pane's file, the same text, undo and unsaved state, with a scroll and a cursor of its own (File.zerox).
